Local Youth Donate Money Raised at Rock ‘n Ribs

Inspired by their families’ recent stays at Ronald McDonald House, a few local families made a substantial donation to the charity this past Friday at the McDonald’s in Sturgeon Falls. While their parents’ “Ribbed For Your Pleasure” amateur ribbing teams competed at this past Summer’s Rock ‘n Ribs festival, Zoe Speck along with Bronte and Malcolm Kienapple set up a table and sold a variety of home-made items throughout the day including carvings, home-made cards, and baked goods.

They raised $1100 which was topped up to $1500 by the festival committee and presented to McDonald’s Sturgeon Falls’ Market Supervisor Jennifer Ferris who was very impressed with the kids’ initiative and spirit of giving.  Rock ‘n Ribs president Peggy Thomson said the kids approached the committee for permission to set up a table to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charities in recognition of the great treatment their families received while staying there to deal with medical issues.
