The Central Region RCMP confirms the federal policing agency has been in Sturgeon Falls since last Thursday as part of an active investigation.
“This remains an active investigation, and officers are expected to continue working at the scene for the next several days,” reads a statement provided by the RCMP. “While work at the scene is ongoing, there is no indication of any immediate risk to the surrounding community.”
Officials say the investigation is being conducted in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police, with support from York Regional Police, Niagara Regional Police Service, and the Ontario Fire Marshal.
They add further details aren’t available at this time because of the complexity of the investigation and ongoing operational activity.
