The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is looking to provide a one-stop number for COVID-19 related concerns.
Beginning Wednesday, a toll-free phone number will be available for people looking to book their COVID-19 vaccine, ask questions about schools and get general information about the virus.
The Health Unit says the change is being made in an effort to drop the number of dropped calls and open the phone lines to other departments. There will also be more accurate wait times and callback capabilities for those who are waiting in the queue.
While more call centre staff will be added, the Health Unit still advises those who are booking vaccine appointments to do so online if possible and leave the hotline open for those with questions and concerns.
The new toll-free COVID-19 phone number is 1-844-478-1400.
