Watermain work to impact water capacity in West Nipissing

West Nipissing says it’s replacing an important watermain component, starting this week, and water system capacity will be reduced during the work.

That has the municipality asking residents and businesses in Sturgeon Falls and Cache Bay not to use water between midnight and 4 am on Thursday, Sept. 24 and Tuesday, Sept. 29.

“Limiting water use will allow crews to complete the work as safely and efficiently as possible while helping to preserve the available system capacity,” states a release.

The night before, the municipality is also asking people to turn off automatic sprinklers and irrigation systems, and avoid running dishwashers, washing machines or other water-using appliances.

Officials say the work is taking place at the intersection of Ethel and Nipissing streets.

They say it’s part of the municipality’s ongoing investment in the water supply network to improve reliability and provide additional backup capacity.
