West Nipissing makes more changes to protocols due to COVID-19

The Municipality of West Nipissing is further changing how Building Services conducts business during this time.

A week ago, the municipality announced that all building services inquiries, including permit applications and inspection requests, will be conducted over the phone at 705-753-2250 or by emailing [email protected]. This week, plan submission and permit issuance, along with inspection requests and code related inquiries have changed protocols.

For plan submissions and permit issuance, the municipality asks all submissions come electronically, to the above email. You can also make an appointment by calling the department at 705-753-2250. Appointments will be made Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Appointments will be restricted to one visitor to drop off documents.

Permit applications can be found on the West Nipissing website.

In order to maintain social distancing, but still providing inspection requests, the Building Department has enacted these following conditions:

  • Worksites shall be limited to no more than 4 employees inside the building during the requested inspection.
  • Any site where a worker is ill or has been out of the country within the last 14 days will not be inspected.
  • All required inspection papers (i.e. truss drawings) shall be submitted electronically in advance.

Code related inquiries are now being conducted over the phone or email. If staff is required to inspect from these discussions, they will follow the outlines provided from the above inspections requests.
