When municipal councillors meet this Thursday in Elliot Lake for a regional conference, they’re getting an update on the ONTC. The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities will hear from union spokesman Brian Kelly via tele-conferencing. On Monday Kelly told North Bay city council that provincial government bureaucrats are blocking the union and management effort to create a sustainability plan for Ontario Northland. Council wants the minister of northern development to step in and get rid of this hurdle. The tele-conferencing update is the result of work by North Bay councillor Mac Bain who is a FONOM delegate.
