Canada 150 A Success in West Nipissing Despite Postponed Fireworks

It got wet but it was still festive in West Nipissing in celebration of Canada Day 150 this past Saturday. Occasional downpours didn’t deter thousands of residents and visitors from celebrating both Canada’s 150th and the Sturgeon River House Museum’s 50th anniversaries. Nickel Belt MP Marc Serre included the celebration in his very busy day throughout the riding.  Other local activities included the Lavigne Community Centre’s annual Giant Community Garage Sale. The weather did postpone the municipality’s fireworks at the Sturgeon Public Beach to a later date to be announced, but some pretty impressive private fireworks displays were still visible around the area.
