Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the Ontario budget forces every person in Ontario to pay and has made life more expensive for everyone. He says age doesn’t matter because seniors over a certain income threshold will see their prescription costs double and even the child activity tax credit is gone. Fedeli says the Liberals may brag that they’re providing free university tuition for low-income families, but he says it comes at another cost.
Fedeli says the Liberals created the free tuition program by cancelling education tax credits for other post-secondary students. The Tory finance critic says the change means 70 percent of students no longer qualify for tax credits. Fedeli also says the cap and trade is nothing more than a tax grab. He says the Liberals are using the pretense of raising gas taxes by 4.3 cents a litre to fight climate change when really they’re hitting everyone in order to spend more money.
