North Bay mayor Al McDonald addresses the Ontario Energy Board on Wednesday to relay local concerns with Trans-Canada’s proposed oil pipeline. The pipeline crosses Trout Lake and the fear is a leak or spill would affect our drinking water. To that end McDonald wants the pipeline built to the highest technical standards available. He’s also asking for a way to measure the economic damage should a spill occur. In the end it’s the National Energy Board that approves the Trans-Canada application and McDonald wants the provincial board to ask for intervener status so it can raise local and regional concerns.
