Mayor of Elliot Lake wants province to regulate gas prices

When northern municipal politicians head to Toronto next week for the Good Roads Association meeting, they’ll be lobbied by the mayor of Elliot Lake.  Dan Marchisella wants the Ontario Liberals to regulate gas prices across the province.  Marchisella is introducing the motion at the February 29th meeting of his council and expects it to pass.

Gas in the south is about 30 percent less than fuel in the north and Marchisella says the north has to band together to change this.  Marchisella says Quebec and the four Maritime provinces currently regulate gas provinces.  His proposal calls for a gas differential of only a few pennies a litre between north and south and not the 30 percent spread.
