Canada Day activities and stat holiday closures

A sunset social is set to celebrate Canada Day in West Nipissing.

The municipality says the event starts at 7 pm Tuesday at the Sturgeon Falls Tennis Court.

There will be lawn games, prizes, a photobooth and more.

Fireworks will begin around 930 pm Tuesday, depending on the weather.

Earlier in the day, from 9 am to 11 am you can learn how to play Pickleball at the arena.

The event is for those ages 12 and older.

Meantime, curbside waste and recycling collection scheduled for Tuesday, has been moved up to Monday, June 30.

The municipality says all other routes will take place on their regular scheduled days, with recycling collection provided by GFL Environmental starting on Wednesday.

The usual retail and government closures are in effect for the stat holiday Tuesday.

Along with the Municipal Office, landfills in Sturgeon Falls, Verner and Lavigne and the West Nipissing Community & Recreation Centre are all closed.
