More than $128,000 was raised during the largest annual fundraiser for the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Sunday.
“The funds raised through Our Hospital Walk/Run help purchase advanced medical equipment. Our highest priority medical equipment needs,” says Tammy Morison, NBRHC Foundation President and CEO says. “We’re working on several projects right now. Among them is mammography and nuclear medicine.”
She says along with the weather, turnout was great for the 17th annual event with more than 547 people taking part and volunteering, which is among the most they’ve ever had.
“At some point in our lives we all will need our hospital and having the tools and the professionals available to care for us is incredibly important,” Morison says. “Our Hospital Walk/Run is just one way that we can bring our community together, celebrate our hospital, celebrate our community and raise those critical funds.”
Winners of the Team Challenge Awards include:
- The Community Team Challenge Award: DWM Walking With Will
- Team Spirit: Super Heroes (pictured above)
- The Hospital Team Challenge: Ghost Whisperers (Central Ambulance Communication Centre (CACC)
“Special thanks to all who helped make Our Hospital Walk/Run a success again this year,” Morison says.
More than $1.5 million dollars has been raised since the event started in 2006.
