The Royal Canadian Legion’s poppy campaign is underway locally and across the country.
The legion says every year, from the last Friday of October to November 11, tens of millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a visual pledge to honour Canada’s Veterans and remember those who sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today.
Along with poppy boxes being set up in stores, tag days are planned with local veterans and Legion members outside a variety of businesses accepting donations and distributing poppies.
West Nipissing Legion Branch 225 posted on social media that last year’s poppy campaign raised over $12,000 for their Poppy Trust Fund.
