Some new fire code regulations have come into effect in Ontario. It is now a law to have a working carbon monoxide detector in your home if you have a fuel fire burning appliance. West Nipissing Firefighter Mike Dionne says fines have also increased. Fines for not having a working smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector have increased from 195 to 295 dollars.Dionne reminds people to have their carbon monoxide detector close to their sleeping area.
