A North Bay police officer involved in an incident where a man was hit with a TASER and later died will not face any charges.
The Special Investigations Unit says there are no reasonable grounds to charge the officer who it says acted lawfully.
The incident involves a domestic dispute on February 22nd, 2018.
No sooner had police entered the home than a struggle ensued with the man as they tried to subdue him.
The struggle lasted several minutes at which point one of the officers used his TASER.
However, it had no effect on the man who police believed to be in a state of drug-induced psychosis.
An ambulance was called and while waiting for it to arrive the man began to have problems breathing.
One of the officers started CPR until paramedics arrived and took over.
The man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The SIU says although to some degree the police struggle with the man was connected with his death, it adds the officer acted in a lawful manner.
It says because of this no charges will be laid.
