North Bay police have charged a 22-year-old North Bay woman after a person was hit on the head with a hammer.
Police say the incident started off as an argument Monday afternoon.
They say it then turned violent with the woman picking up a hammer and using it to strike the victim.
Afterward, the woman called an ambulance which responded to the Hutchison Avenue incident.
Police were called to help the paramedics and once on the scene, they started looking into how the head injury occurred.
When their investigation led them to the hammer, they ended up charging the woman with aggravated assault.
Police also charged the 22-year-old with possession of a prohibited weapon after they found brass knuckles on her.
The victim was treated and released for the head injury.
Police are not releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
