It started as a speeding infraction but quickly turned into a bonanza for the Mattawa OPP once they stopped a vehicle for the initial offence.
After stopping the vehicle, the officers became suspicious of the occupants and decided to search the vehicle.
That search yielded two guns, ammunition, a large amount of Canadian currency and a variety of drugs.
The drugs included methamphetamine pills, ecstasy tablets, marijuana and cocaine.
In all, three people face a total of 34 charges and in many cases, they’re looking at multiple counts of the same charges.
The charges include drug trafficking offences, weapons related charges including unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm and possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime.
Two of the accused are a 39-year-old man and 41-year-old man from Gatineau, Quebec and the older man faces the additional charge of three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition.
The other person arrested is a 43-year-old Sudbury woman.
Mattawa OPP did not release a dollar value on the drugs seized.
