A woman who grew up in Sturgeon Falls is the latest person to join the North Bay Police.
Constable Maxine Baronette was sworn in on Friday at North Bay Police headquarters after graduating last month from the Ontario Police College.
Before heading into law enforcement, Baronette studied at the University of Windsor where she took the General Arts Program and also played varsity hockey.
After her post-secondary education, Baronette moved back to the North Bay area to pursue her desire to help people.
She first took a Police Foundation Diploma program and started her career in law enforcement as a corrections officer in New Brunswick.
After that, she became a special constable with the North Bay police this past January.
She assumed the position of constable in November when she also graduated from the police academy.
