A new round of bed cuts is on the docket for the North Bay Regional Health Centre. A union official expects the hospital to slash up to 60 beds, to reduce an 18 million dollar deficit. Michael Hurley, the Ontario Hospital Union’s president, says this will be devastating for the community. The hospital could be down to 360 beds with the closures, which is 63 percent less beds than they had in 1996.
