Every seven minutes someone in Canada dies because of a stroke or heart disease. But a paramedic with the North Bay Regional Health Centre says it doesn`t have to be this way. Denis Allard is in Sturgeon Falls this Friday at the West Nipissing General Hospital as part of EMS week. Allard will be on hand explaining wellness clinics and home referral visits.
As for heart-related illnesses, Allard says 80 percent of cases are preventable if we make healthy life choices. Allard will also be talking about Automated External Defibrillator. He`s at the hospital from 10:00am to 2:00pm Friday.
