The West Nipissing region stands to benefit enormously after it hosts the 2019 International Plowing Match. It’s only the second time the huge event has come north in more than 100 years. The first time was several years ago when it was in Earlton. West Nipissing Mayor Joanne Savage says Earlton hosting the plowing match has paid big dividends for the region.
She’s talked to officials in the small northern community who told her after the event, the community was never the same and continues to benefit. The plowing match will take place in Verner the third week of September in 2019.
