The Sudbury and District Health Unit says some people have sampled frozen berries that are behind a Hepatitis A outbreak. The berries were sold at Costco stores and samples were given out March 22nd and 23rd. Hepatitis A can cause liver damage. Ten people have developed the virus, but in our area the North Bay – Parry Sound District Health Unit doesn’t know of anyone being infected.
However the health unit says people who ate the berries should get vaccinated as soon as possible. Hepatitis A symptoms include fever, vomiting and loss of appetite. The berries were sold under the brand name Nature’s Touch Organic Berry Cherry Blend.
