NDP MP says First Nations should have received more federal dollars from budget

A Northern Ontario federal New Democrat says the Liberal budget could have gone further in helping First Nations.  Carol Hughes acknowledges some headway has been made for Aboriginal people, but it’s far from enough.  Hughes says an area that could have seen more federal support is education.

Hughes says First Nations were short-changed $230-million in the education department.  Hughes says another area that won’t get enough funding is child welfare.  She claims about another $130-million dollars should have gone in this sector.          Hughes adds it seems Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was prepared to say during the election campaign in order to get elected.
