Anthony Rota, the federal MP for Nipissing-Timiskaming is warning residents to watch out for the Canada Revenue Agency scam. Under the scam, someone claiming to be a rep from the CRA phones to say you owe money to the taxman.
Then the scammer says you can pay by providing your credit card information. Rota says CRA will never phone you and ask for this kind of information. Rota says if people need more information, call his North Bay office at 474-3700.
