Health Sciences North says only a small number of women in the northeast have had cervical cancer screenings. And the hospital is encouraging more women to get screened for the disease. Gauthier says regular check-ups are the only way to find cell changes at an early stage. Almost half a million women in Ontario are overdue for a screening.
