The money that the North Bay chamber of commerce is using to study the fishery of Lake Nipissing is from the Trillium Foundation. The $75,000 is part of a $1.2 million announcement from the organization. The largest amount of cash, $700,000, is for a mobile media lab to help young people in six area communities. Another $150,000 is headed to the North Bay Granite Club to renovate the facility and build six tennis courts.
And Big Brothers – Big Sisters will receive $128,000 for a mentoring program and youth at-risk program in the North Bay District. Other recipients from Trillium were Chisholm Township which gets about $80,000 to improve recreation with a new pavilion. The White Water Gallery can launch an anti-stigma campaign thanks to Trillium giving it $58,000 and the Voyageur Cycling Route gets boost from a $55,000 grant to help with collaboration of the 380 kilometre long trail.
