Chamber to study Lake Nipissing

The North Bay chamber of commerce is getting $75,000 dollars to study issues affecting the walleye population in Lake Nipissing.  Vic Fedeli awarded the money to the chamber through a Trillium grant.  Fedeli says the study is intended to take the politics out of fishery issues involving the lake.  Fedeli says what’s needed is science-based results to move forward on the issue.

Fedeli says for years he’s helped the Lake Nipissing Stakeholders with their effort to re-stock the lake but all efforts have failed.  The Tory MPP says something has to be done because the current situation affects all sectors.  Last week the Nipissing First Nation announced a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Natural Resources to work on making the walleye population in the lake sustainable and healthy.
