The president of CUPE Ontario has a request of North Bay City council. Fred Hahn says maintain the non-profit status at Casselholme and don’t turn the nursing home into a for-profit agency. Hahn is worried about the quality of service at Casselholme if it’s taken over by private enterprise.
But the chair of the long-term care facility, councillor Chris Mayne, says no matter what happens, the city is committed to maintaining the level of care at the site. Mayne also says regardless of what the board recommends, in the end it’s the province that decides the status of Casselholme.
