The president of the North Bay chamber of commerce says the community is on to a good thing. Jake Lacourse is talking about the benefits of sports tourism. This week North Bay hosted all Ontario high school championships in curling plus there was volleyball. Lacourse says with three beach volleyball events coming up later this year, North Bay has captured a niche market.
Lacourse says North Bay is doing it right when the events come to town and as this continues, the community will become known as a sports town. This past week, there wasn’t a hotel room to be had, restaurants were busy and some retailers also noticed increased sales.
