Chief wants more Aboriginal input in climate change talks

Ontario’s Regional Chief says long-term initiatives on climate change have to include First Nation leadership in order to work.  Isadore Day says at this point, most discussions on climate change are going on without Aboriginal input.  Day says including First Nation consultations is basic common sense as they try to preserve the land and water for future generations.

Day says his people regularly experience human rights violations like access to clean water and sanitation.  Day says this has to change, and is asking when will politicians expand climate change talks to include more Aboriginal consultation.  In the past, some First Nations have claimed climate change has affected winter roads to their communities which are lifelines for food and fuel.
