The Spring Bear Hunt pilot project is being extended for another five years.
It’s also being expanded to resident hunters and all 88 wildlife management units. The pilot project ran in North Bay and select other communities in 2014 and 2015. It aims to reduce the problem of nuisance bears, and bring tourism to northern Ontario. The project will take place between May 1st and June 15th of each year.
It will still be illegal to hunt bear cubs and females with cubs.
