Fedeli critical of increased grant to electric cars

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is weighing in on the Premier’s decision to increase the grant allocation to people who buy electric cars.  The subsidy is going from $8,500 to $14,000.   Fedeli says the five year program has failed yet the Wynne Liberals continue to pour more money into it.   But he says the waste doesn’t stop there.  The government will spend $20-million to create charging stations for less than five thousand vehicles spread across the province.

The Liberals maintain this supports a Green environment but Fedeli says don’t believe it.  He says pouring money into a failed program is nothing more than optics on the part of the Liberals.   Electric cars cost around $75,000.  And Fedeli says if a person can afford to buy that kind of an expensive vehicle, then they’re well off and don’t need a government grant.
