News Houlder named honourary athlete to 2015 games SHARE ON: Rocco Frangione, staff Tuesday, Apr. 1st, 2014 Former NHL player Bill Houlder has been named the honourary athlete for the 2015 Special Olympic Games. Next year’s games are in North Bay, and Houlder once played for the OHL’s North Bay Centennials and spent 16 years in the NHL with seven teams. Houlder was one of the spectators at Saturday’s Polar Plunge in North Bay. The event raised $48,000 for Special Olympics. Houlder is now a coach for the North Bay District Girls Hockey Association.
