A strike has been avoided at the North Bay jail.
A deal between the union representing Ontario’s correctional workers and the province was reached over the weekend. If ratified, the agreement will see correctional workers designated as essential service workers like firefighters and police officers.
This means any future bargaining will be subject to binding arbitration. The workers will also lose their right to strike.
