Court dates set for Lougheed bribe case

A prominent Liberal fundraiser and Sudbury businessman will have his bribery case appear before the courts in July.  Three weeks of court time are set aside for Gerry Lougheed Junior beginning July 4th either for a preliminary hearing or trial.  OPP charged Loughheed with bribery in connection with Sudbury’s provincial by-election last February.

It’s alleged Lougheed asked a Liberal not to seek a riding nomination and in return the individual could be offered a job or appointment.  The Liberal candidate in question had audio recordings of the offer which he later turned over to police.
