The MPP for Nickel Belt has mixed feelings over a government announcement on families struggling to conceive. France Gelinas says a provincial fertility program is good news, but it also has to be accessible. And Gelinas says that’s a problem for northerners. While Ontario has 50 approved fertility clinics, only one of them is in the north and it’s in Thunder Bay.
Gelinas says the north can’t be served by a single fertility clinic. She doesn’t specifically call for more clinics in the north, but the New Democrat does say northerners need more equitable access to the clinics.
