Hundreds of people are expected to gather in Lee Park today to protest cuts at North Bay’s hospital. The rally has been organized by the Health Coalition, and the goal is to put pressure on the province to increase their funding to the health centre.
The hospital has been experiencing cut backs over the last few years, and over 300 jobs have been slashed. Ontario Council of Hospital Union President, Michael Hurley, says if North Bay’s hospital was located in any other province or territory, it would be receiving $23-million dollars more in funding a year.
The rally begins at 12:00pm and will be broadcast at Queen’s Park.
