Media big problem for Trans Canada to get message out

A big problem Trans Canada has in getting its message out that moving oil through a pipeline is safe, is being heard over opposition voices.  Regional Ontario spokesman Stefan Baranski says the media tends to go after groups that make the loudest noise.  And Baranski says that makes his job tougher because some groups misinform the public meaning Trans Canada has to correct misleading claims.

Baranski says the company’s opponents like to throw out wrong facts and figures.  He says the best Trans Canada is do is put the correct numbers on the table and Baranski adds the National Energy Board holds it accountable to those facts.  Baranski says numerous studies show transporting oil through pipelines is safer than rail.  The Energy East Pipeline is a proposal to move unrefined oil from Alberta to Eastern Canada and the route takes the pipeline through parts of Northeastern Ontario including passing through North Bay.
