Unifor employees head back to work

Over 190 rail and bus mechanics with Ontario Northland will be back to work today.

They were notified of a lockout on Wednesday, and were given a 72 hour notice period. Unifor filed a complaint to the Canada Industrial Relations Board and won. President of Unifor Local 103, Andy Mitchell, says they are ready to negotiate.

The biggest issue for the union is job security. Mitchell says the company can contract out work instead of using their own employees. Both sides head back to the bargaining table at 11:00am this morning.
