It’s a tense situation at Ontario Northland.
The company notified their rail and bus mechanics that they are being locked out on Saturday. The Unifor employees have been walking the picket lines ever since. The lockout is impacting around 195 employees at the company.
The ONTC is hopeful the deadline will result in a serious attempt by Unifor to reach a collective agreement. The employees have been without a contract since 2013. In the meantime, Ontario Northland’s freight, motor coach and passenger rail services will still be running as usual.
