Taxpayer blasts council over Memorial Gardens overruns

North Bay council got an earful from one of its residents Monday night over the unapproved cost overruns at Memorial Gardens.  Jim Brian says council should have known there was no way the feds would give the city $1 million for the renovations because it was not approving arena projects anywhere else.  He adds council had an obligation to taxpayers from the very beginning to know what was going on at the Gardens.  Brian says city council is the political master of the administration yet it’s staff that was in charge of the massive project.  Brian’s parting shot was council should have been more critical of the renovations from the outset instead of acting as cheerleaders.
