It’s too early to say for now, but when 2018 rolls around, North Bay residents might by voting for two less councillors. Mac Bain proposed the measure as a way to save some tax dollars. Bain says with eight councillors instead of 10, that means more committee work for the remaining elected politicians. The suggestion has gone to committee for more debate before it comes back to council for a final decision. Bain says staff will likely be asked to prepare a report on the matter. He says staff will find that municipalities across Ontario have different sizes with some having more council members and others having less.
