Canada Post job cuts could impact North Bay community

Double digit job losses could be in store for North Bay if Canada Post cuts go as planned.

That’s the message from the National President of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, who came to the city with the “Save Canada Post Caravan”. Mike Palacek and several others protested outside of Premier Mining yesterday morning, where Prime Minister Stephen Harper was making an announcement.

Palacek says as it stands, 8000 people will be losing their jobs across Canada, including 19 in North Bay. He says the cuts are senseless because Canada Post is still making a profit, bringing in $200-million last year alone
