North Bay residents will begin paying for metered water September 1st as planned.
Councillor Mike Anthony tried to a pass a motion at last night’s meeting to delay billing until January 1st so that people could ease into the new system. It ended with a 5 to 5 vote. Mayor Al McDonald said the city is already too far along in the process to turn back now.
Under the purchasing bylaw, the city would not have the legal right to charge residents for their September and October water bill if they didn’t make the switch, which would put them in the hole over $3,000.000. You can check your estimated bill and water usage online here: Water Portal
