Man charged for knocking down power line in North Bay

North Bay Police officers have charged a London area man for knocking down a hydro line on College Drive.

It is alleged that the 29-year-old entered an excavator on Saturday night, moved it without permission, and extended the bucket arm. The arm ended up hitting a hydro pole, causing it to break.

As a result, some traffic light systems malfunctioned and electricity was interrupted in the area. The man was arrested that night and now faces two charges including mischief and theft over $5,000.
