North Bay council wants permanent return of bear hunt

North Bay council wants the province to make the spring bear hunt permanent.  Right now it’s back as a pilot project.

Councillor Mac Bain says the province will be looking at a critical factor on whether the province brings back the hunt.    It’s believed the hunt would reduce the number of interactions between bears and people.

In North Bay, the police respond to bear calls and Chief Paul Cook says his people are not really trained in this area.
