No charges stemming from lockdown Friday at West Ferris Secondary

The North Bay Police Service says no charges will be laid after a lockdown was initiated at West Ferris Secondary School on Friday.

Police say information was received that a student was possibly heading to the school with a firearm.

The school was put into lockdown and officers located the student, who was not at school at the time.

A pellet gun was recovered.

“As a result of the investigation, it was determined there was no information to indicate that the pellet gun was at the school, on route to the school, or used in a way that posed any danger to students, staff or the general public,” says Inspector of Criminal Investigations, Scott McFarlane.

Police say the incident was resolved quickly and the lockdown was lifted shortly after.
