Ontario is investing in small rural hospitals.
The province is adding 1% to the base funding of 27 small hospitals in Northern Ontario to improve patient care close to home. In Nipissing, Mattawa General Hospital will see a 61-thousand dollar increase. The funding translates to over 7-million dollars for small hospitals across the province.
In a statement, Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development and Mines said, “This funding increase makes a big difference to the Nipissing region. It ensures that these hospitals can continue to provide Northerners with health care services close to home.”
