UPDATE: The OPP says the highway has re-opened.
Four people were transported to hospital with one suffering life-altering injuries after two separate crashes on Highway 11 North early this morning.
That’s according to the OPP who says two commercial motor vehicles crashed around 12:00 a.m. near Sand Dam Road in North Bay with emergency crews responding. Within minutes, police say a second crash happened after a snow plow drove over highway debris. Police say the driver of the snow plow was not injured.
The highway has been closed for several hours and officials say it is going to remain closed for quite some time in order to complete the investigation and clear the highway.
The OPP is encouraging drivers to review detour options to avoid congestion on local highways and roadways.
