Celebrating ten years of ICAMP

Canadore College is receiving $1.1 million to expand the Innovation Centre for Advance Manufacturing and Prototyping (ICAMP) facility.

The money comes from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.

“Our government is proud to continue providing targeted investments that will support the manufacturing industry in Northern Ontario,” says MPP Vic Fedeli. “The expansion of ICAMP at Canadore College will help businesses and students work together to conduct market research by using specialized equipment to design, develop and test innovative ideas.”

Officials say through the new Concept Development Lab, Northern Ontario start-ups and young companies will be guided through the early stages of the commercialization process, create their own prototype, and rent equipment.

“The Concept Development Lab will co-exist with the Entrepreneurship Academy at Canadore by providing technical support for the development of innovative products,” says George Burton, President, and CEO, Canadore College. “The Entrepreneurship Academy will work with ecosystem partners to bring the products to market.”

ICAMP celebrated its 10-year anniversary on Friday.

Services offered include product design and prototyping, 3D printing, advanced robotics, advanced simulation, additive manufacturing, and virtual and augmented realities.

Canadore says to date, ICAMP has helped 500 companies complete more than 1100 projects.
